Red Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon is the grape most commonly associated with the classic red wines of Bordeaux. Typical flavors associated with Cabernet Sauvignon are dark berry characters such as black currant (cassis), spiciness, and an herbaceous bell pepper.
Merlot a very popular choice for peoples first explorations into red table wine. It gives a range of flavors from dense black currant Cabernet Sauvignon-like character, to softer plum and black cherry fruit.
Pinot Noir is a lighter colored and flavored red wine. Its flavors are reminiscent of sweet red berries, plums, tomatoes, cherries and at times a notable earthy or wood-like flavor, depending on specific growing conditions.
Syrah ranges in flavor from spicy black pepper and smoke in cooler climates and less ripe seasons to jammy blackberry and chocolate when very ripe. Syrah quite often develops a meaty/gamey character similar to sausages and salami as well.
Typically Sangiovese grapes make medium to full-bodied wines with tannin structure ranging from medium-soft to firm. Dominate flavors associated with Sangiovese derived wines include: cherry, plum, strawberry, cinnamon and vanilla.
