2005 Cote Bonneville "Carriage House" Red Wine
The grapes in the 2005 Carriage House grew in a drought year, in which the vines themselves adapted. Vine vigor was low, the berries contained more tannins and anthocyanins, and flavors shifted subtly.
The 2005 Carriage House is very dark garnet in color. Lush deep aromatics swirl with black cherry, plum, and a hint of bergamot. Rich blueberry, boysenberry and cherry fill the mid-palate. The long finish carries cocoa mixed with the fruit. This wine is fascinating now, and will age well if laid down.
The 2005 Carriage House compliments Mussaka (King’s Palace Hotel, Greece) or Tournedos au poivre, followed by Chocolate Orange Cheesecake.
This wine is estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon (73%), Merlot (26%) and Cabernet Franc (1%). It was aged for 21 months in French oak cooperage. We bottled the wine unfiltered on June 5, 2007. Alcohol measured 13.3%, pH was 3.58, and titrable acidity was 0.61. 1050 cases were produced. |
